What is the policy on quiet in the library?

Answer

One of the hallmarks of the library is that it is a quiet place to study.

There is an expectation that conversations will be quiet in the library as a courtesy to others in the library studying.

In libraries, quiet means that someone 6 feet from you should not be able to hear your conversation.

That said, we know that students need space to collaborate and discuss projects. Please use study rooms and the Collaboration Lab / Curriculum Room (the space with the vending machines) for group discussions. Even in these spaces, remember that the walls are thin, and voices carry, so please speak quietly.

Phone conversations are not allowed in the library. If you must answer your phone, please keep your conversation brief, or step outside.
