How can I tell if an article is peer-reviewed?
Answer
Peer-review is when a scholarly periodical requires that each article submitted for publication be judged by an independent panel of experts (scholarly or scientific peers).
Use the database Ulrichsweb to see if a journal is 'refereed' (i.e. peer-reviewed).
Also be sure to look closely at the entry where you found the article. Sometimes journals include, in addition to peer-reviewed research, editorials and reviews that are not subject to peer-review.
If you are still uncertain check with your professor or a librarian.
